Based in Palm Beach County, Full Life offers a range of services including clinical case management, intervention, treatment placement, and expert consultation on involuntary commitment procedures such as the Marchman Act and Baker Act. The practice is grounded in evidence-based care, family collaboration, and ethical decision-making to support long-term recovery and stability.

We proudly support the Palm Beach Mental Health Counselors Association because of their unwavering commitment to providing high-quality professional development and fostering a strong network of local mental health providers. Their efforts to keep clinicians informed, connected, and supported align with our values and community collaboration.

Prior to founding Full Life, I worked for a baker act receiving unit and a prominent dual diagnosis facility. I saw first hand the significant gaps in our mental health care system, especially those with very complex and severe mental illness. At Full Life, our mission is to fill that gap.

Hanley Foundation

At Hanley Foundation, we compassionately treat adults with mental health disorders at our 10-bed Residential Mental Health Program, set on 14 acres of lush gardens in sunny West Palm Beach. Our comprehensive clinical approach focuses on long-term recovery and addresses trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, process addictions, mood disorders, and personality disorders. Hanley provides comprehensive primary mental health treatment services at residential and outpatient levels of care. Our stand-alone facility offers 24/7 nursing, medical, and psychiatric care, along with confidential and comfortable amenities separate from other programming.

Beyond mental health, Hanley Foundation is a 501C3 nonprofit dedicated to a broader mission of eliminating addiction. We offer a full continuum of care that includes leadingedge treatment for substance use disorders. Our efforts extend to robust prevention programming in 34 FL counties, vital recovery support and scholarships, and impactful advocacy efforts to educate, change minds, and save lives.

We chose to support the Mental Health Counselor's Association of Palm Beach because we deeply believe in your mission to empower clinical professionals to better serve our community. Your commitment to fostering a strong network of mental health professionals directly impacts the quality of care available to those in need. As an organization dedicated to healing and recovery, we understand the importance of continuous learning, ethical practice, and community collaboration, all of which your association champions. By supporting your vital work, we contribute to a stronger, more supportive environment for both practitioners and the individuals we collectively serve.

At Hanley Foundation, we understand that addiction impacts the entire family, and children are often the first hurt and the last helped. Our Child-Centered Family Program is specifically designed for children ages 7-12 who have a family history of addiction. This three-day program, offered through our family programming, provides immediate and longterm support and services to these children.

The program's purpose is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for children to learn, heal, and develop resilience. We aim to address addiction as a family disease, empowering children with tools to thrive despite challenges, helping them understand they are not to blame for their loved one’s addiction, encouraging open communication, and teaching self-care strategies. This program was designed in collaboration with the National Association for Children of Addiction (NACoA) and Jerry Moe, a renowned author and consultant known for helping create the Sesame Street Muppet character Karli, whose family is dealing with addiction. We are proud to help break the multi-generational cycle of addiction, fostering resilience, and helping children move forward with confidence and hope.

Joe Considine Law

Marchman Act Attorney Joe Considine has practiced law in South Florida since 1983. His practice focuses on utilizing the court system to obtain substance use treatment for impaired individuals through Florida's involuntary commitment statute. He has handled hundreds of Marchman Act cases in various circuits in Florida for more than 10 years. Working extensively with families from across the country whose loved ones have substance abuse and mental health problems, Attorney Considine has been able to keep individuals with Substance Use Disorder in treatment under a court order for up to 12 months when necessary. He is committed to educating mental health professionals, the legal community, and the public about the efficacy of the Marchman Act as a form of intervention through the legal system. Joe Considine Law works closely with clinicians, interventionists, treatment centers, and case managers to get impaired individuals into recovery.

My support for the Mental Health Counselors Association of Palm Beach began through my friend (and former high school teacher) Mary Mook, who was president of the organization at the time. As I learned more about the association’s mission, I decided to get involved. I wanted to become a sponsor because I was enjoying the educational seminars. I appreciated the opportunities to interact with mental health professionals in relaxed environments, as well as over lunch! I’ve also enjoyed being able to share my expertise as a presenter for the Lunch and Learn series. Interestingly enough, I’ve heard so many remarks from clinicians who say that learning about the efficacy of involuntary commitment was not part of their curriculum at the bachelor’s or master’s level of their education. Embracing the chance to address this gap became another way for me to offer my support. Helping mental health professionals better understand the Marchman Act process as a useful tool of intervention--while addressing questions, allaying fears, or clarifying misinterpretations--has led to more collaborative efforts toward helping families confront addiction.

First, let me say that my individual therapy has helped me dramatically change my life. So one of my favorite wellness tips, based on how I have personally benefitted over the years, is to trust the therapy process. Beyond that, I have made the practice of mindfulness, daily meditation, gardening and distance swimming integral parts of my ongoing wellness journey.
