Licensed Mental Health Counselors and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Clinical Social Workers are REQUIRED to complete a 3 hour (3 CEU) course updating them on the current Florida Renewal Laws and Rules before March 31, 2021 and every third biennial renewal thereafter . The course reviews all pertinent laws and rules for changes in an effort to aid mental health professionals in avoiding malpractice problems, adhering to license requirements, providing appropriate legal and ethical supervision and protecting clients’ welfare . Participants will be updated on changes to the Laws (F. S. 491 and F. S. 456) and Rules (Chapter 64B4, F.A.C.: Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Therapy & Mental Health Counseling) and issues currently trending related to:
- Regulation of Professions and Occupations
- Psychotherapist-Patient Privilege
- Clinical, Counseling, and Psychotherapy Services
- Rules of the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling, and
- Integrating laws and rules with clinical practice through discussion, case examples and vignettes
These are, of course, required CEU’s for the re-licensure of LCSW, LMFT, and LMHC professional licenses. Check with CE Broker to see if this will be important for you .

Among his/her areas of expertise are individual, couples and family therapy, child & adolescent therapy, neurofeedback, forensic evaluation & mediation, child custody evaluation, and on-line distance counseling.
