Medical Errors Participants will be able to: Name several error prone circumstances in mental health clinical practice Define and apply root cause analysis appropriately to their areas of practice Identify error reduction and prevention strategies specifically applicable to mental health and social service populations Learn methods and benefits of focusing on patient safety This course has been developed to specifically meet the needs and interests of clinical social workers and other mental health professionals. Participants will engage in a dialogue about the applicability of root cause analysis and error prevention in a variety of mental health practice settings. This continuing education course satisfies the requirements imposed by the 2001 Florida State Legislature mandating a 2-hour continuing education course relating to the prevention of medical errors as part of the licensure and renewal process for all health and mental health professionals.
About Our Presenter Aaron Norton is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy serving as Executive Director of the National Board of Forensic Evaluators, Adjunct Instructor at the University of South Florida, Southern Regional Director for the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and President of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association. He has nearly 20 years of clinical experience at Integrity Counseling, Inc., was awarded Mental Health Counselor of the Year by the American Mental Health Counselors Association and Counselor Educator of the Year by the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association in 2016, Researcher of the Year by Florida Mental Health Counselors Association in 2020, and has been published in several social science journals and professional magazines in clinical mental health counseling.  Continuing Education Information
